Dating back to around 350 years and seen many different invasions, Cape Town has matured into a world class cosmopolitan city. It is home to a fine blend of African, Dutch, French, British and Malay cultures. Owing to its rich history, the city boasts worth visiting museums and archeological sites. In addition, the city’s cultural and festive events, beaches and scenic beauty, all gather to draw millions of tourists to it every holiday season. These are some of the reason why Cape Town flights have always remained highly demanded. During a visit to this exotic city, some places need to be visited to perfect the holiday. These are:

Bo-Kaap:

Bo-Kaap is a large community of Muslims living in Cape Town. Most of the residents of the society are considered to be the descendants of slaves brought from Java, Indonesia by the Dutch. Hence, another name for B0-Kaap is Malay Quarter. The area lies on the foot of Signal Hill and comprises colorful flat-roofed houses, narrow streets and beautiful mosques. Road side food sold in Bo-Kaap is very popular amongst the locals as well as tourists and the site is often a location for film shootings.

The Company Gardens:

Company Gardens originated with the birth of Cape Town. When the first Dutch founded the city, they wanted a vegetable garden that could supply them food. As of now, The Company Gardens have not been able to maintain the original size; they still boast shaded paths amidst oak tree plantations. To this romantic look, add the lush lawns and ponds that are covered with lily. Hence it is recommended that a few hours be spared for The Company Gardens, especially if the trip is a honeymoon.

The Castle:

This is one of the many historical sites in the city. The construction of this castle started two days after the Dutch founded the city of Cape Town. The name of this Dutch built castle is “Castle of Good Hope”. The original fort was built purely with clay and timber but in 1660s, the clay fort was replaced by what is now known today as “The Castle”. It is the oldest building in South Africa. The Castle attracts historians and archeologists to Cape Town in large numbers. Hence it heavily accounts for the regularity in service of flights to Cape Town.

Bertram House:

Bertram House was built somewhere in 1830s at Adderly Street by a British. The owner of the house, Barker, belonged to Yorkshire and the house is named after his wife Ann Bertram Findlay. The house was immensely restored and renovated, keeping its original charm intact. Izikio Bertram House is now a museum housing the furniture of Ann Findlay and showcasing the 19th century life of Cape Town. A watercourse at the back of the house is also a great attraction.

Due to the city’s popularity as a tourist resort, cheap flights to Cape Town are being offered by almost all major airlines from around the globe. During a visit to the city; the beaches, shopping and if, time concedes then, any of the events or festivals can also be enjoyed. For sure; a holiday in Cape Town would be wondrous.
